The BCC Mission Team has recently learned of another great opportunity to stay connected and to help others. Robin DeVilbiss shared a friends’ non-profit organization, called “A Book Ahead”. Robin has known Linda Irwin for more than 30 years. Linda works for Lutheran Social Services, works with many children, who have very limited or no access to books in their home. Their mission is to provide low income, minority, or current/prior foster children between the ages of 0 and 5 years old, a book for every month of the year, with the goal of increasing early literacy and positive parent/child interactions. Free books are provided to disadvantaged children in Milwaukee and Waukesha counties. They are currently collecting donations of board books (8”x 8”) and picture books (10” x 10”) for children under 5 years old. Both, English and Spanish books are welcome. If you prefer to shop online via amazon, you can access their book wish list here. To learn more about this non-profit, visit their website ‘ABookAhead’.
To drop off your donations, find a tote in the breezeway at BCC starting Sunday, March 7 through Saturday, March 20. On Sunday, March 21, the BCC Mission Team will be at the church from 1 until 2 pm to collect the books. We will also be handing out Palms in a drive-through setting. For more information or to arrange for a pick up, please contact Kris Charles at 802-558-7200 or [email protected] Wishing you a blessed Lenten season!
