FAQs
What Should I Wear?
Brookfield Congregational Church has a ‘come as you are’ atmosphere. Some members of the congregation dress up, some dress casually, some dress in between. It's your choice.
What is a Sunday Service Like?
Our 10 AM Sunday service offers inspiring worship and Biblical teaching, relevant to everyday life. Click here to watch past services on our YouTube channel. Our outstanding music ministry blends traditional and contemporary music. Each worship service lasts about an hour. A time of fellowship follows worship, open to all, with coffee and treats in the Gathering Room, just down the hall from the Sanctuary. Join us for coffee and casual conversation.
When is Communion & Who is Invited to Participate?
Communion is served the first Sunday of the month. We practice an open communion -- meaning everyone is invited to share in the sacrament. Children may participate upon discretion of a parent/guardian.
Options for Children Visitors on Sunday Mornings
Children are welcome to join us in the Sanctuary on Sunday mornings. Ushers can assist in providing you and your child with an Activity Bag (small fabric bag) with coloring pages and crayons.
Younger children, ages 0-4, can have fun in the Nursery every Sunday morning. Nursery Care is provided by a Nursery Attendant who is a church staff member. Ushers can help you locate the Nursery. The Nursery Attendant will check-in your child and ask for your cell phone number, just in case the need arises to contact you during worship. You can stay in the Nursery with your child, if you wish. The worship service can be heard through speakers in the Nursery.
Our Children’s Church program is designed for youth ages pre-K through 6th grade. Our curriculum is hands-on and mission-based. Throughout the school year we plan intergenerational events that support local nonprofits. Children visitors are welcome to join Children’s Church for any event or they can worship with you in the sanctuary. Learn more about Children's Church by signing up to receive our weekly electronic newsletter. See link below.
Do You Have Special Accommodations?
Ask an Usher if you wish to use a hearing-assisted device; it's available in the Narthex (lobby). Feel free to take a seat cushion for your comfort; it's available in the first pew as you enter the Sanctuary. A wheelchair accessible restroom is available at the far end of the Gathering Room. Our Library and Nursery are equipped with sound systems for you to be able to listen to the live worship service when not in the Sanctuary. Our Ushers can assist you with special accommodations.
Be Sure to Say 'Hello'!
When you visit, don’t forget to say ‘Hi’ to our Pastor, Rev. Laura McLeod. We look forward to meeting you, your family, and answering your questions. We’re so glad you wish to visit Brookfield Congregational Church!
United Church of Christ Statement of Faith
in the form of a doxology
We believe in you, O God, Eternal Spirit, God of our Savior Jesus Christ and our God, and to your deeds we testify:
You call the worlds into being, create persons in your own image, and set before each one the ways of life and death.
You seek in holy love to save all people from aimlessness and sin.
You judge people and nations by your righteous will declared through prophets and apostles.
In Jesus Christ, the man of Nazareth, are crucified and risen Savior, you have come to us and shared our common lot, conquering sin and death and reconciling the world to yourself.
You bestow upon us your Holy Spirit, creating and renewing the church of Jesus Christ, binding in covenant faithful people of all ages, tongues, and races.
You call us into your church to accept the cost and joy of discipleship, to be your servants in the service of others, to proclaim the gospel to all the world and resist the powers of evil, to share in Christ’s baptism and eat at his table, to join him in his passion and victory.
You promise to all who trust you forgiveness of sins and fullness of grace, courage in the struggle for justice and peace, your presence in trial and rejoicing, an eternal life in your realm which has no end.
Blessing and honor, glory and power be unto you.
Amen.
