Mission At Work…
The University of Wisconsin Christian Ministries have offered a free “Lunch Bunch” program on Wednesday’s during the school calendar year, for a few years now.
The lunches are served in the Christian Ministries house across from the Student Union.
Several churches in the greater Milwaukee area volunteer to prepare and serve these lunches. BCC has supported this program twice a year. Plus, monetary offerings from our collection plates.
The students gather in the living room type setting to share the meal, joyful camaraderie, and often a Bible study.
Due to Covid 19, the students are now doing online learning and the “in house” lunches have ceased. Currently, many students are living at home, however there are students around the UWM campus area. For the past month, the UCM is working on ways to reach out to the students to provide meal assistance if they need it.
Currently, several groups have volunteered to provide bagged meals to about 30 students. Your mission team, and Rev. Laura’s masked making hands, designated the funds to deliver 30 boxed lunches yesterday! Dave DiBraccio picked up and delivered them.
Pastor Alan, said, “ Thanks to your congregation for the support!” He said he will pray for the health and safety of our church members.
Many of the students served, are foreign students who are unable to get home because of financial reasons. Many have lost their part time jobs or are hampered by travel restrictions.
