A mini-retreat facilitated by Holly Whitcomb
Tuesday, June 27: 4:00 – 5:30 P.M.

The theme for this summer’s explorations at BCC is Resilience. Psychologists define resilience as “the process and outcome of successfully adapting to difficult or challenging life experiences.” One hallmark of resilience is taking charge rather than remaining passive or disheartened. One way we can take charge is by practicing discernment: sorting things out and bringing light to that which is murky or obscure. Christian discernment is trying to look at situations as God sees them and asking ourselves what God would want us to do. How do we discern for ourselves? How do we discern for our church? In this mini-retreat, Holly will share her list of discernment tools which have offered her clarity over many years.

Please join us for this mini-retreat on Resilience and Discernment. We will pray and ponder and share our thoughts about what we have discovered. This mini-retreat will be held in person at BCC, hopefully outside in the Sanctuary Garden on Tuesday, June 27 from 4:00 until 5:30. Please bring your own lawn chair. Bottled water will be provided. If it is rainy, we will meet inside. You do not need to sign up online. Please mark this on your calendar and join us!

Our leader: Rev. Holly Whitcomb, a longtime UCC minister, spiritual director, retreat leader, and author is a member of BCC.
