The Hope Center in Waukesha runs several programs including their Outreach Meals Program and the Day Center. The guests include the homeless, those living in rooming houses or shelters, families trying to stretch their budget, and elderly persons on a fixed income, many of whom are physically and/or mentally impaired. A dinner meal is served Mon/Wed/Fri. The Hope Center also provides breakfast and lunch Monday-Friday as part of their Day Center program. The Hope Center has been a regular recipient of Mission funds. In addition, we are part of the Loaves & Fishes program which uses their dining room on Sundays to serve a hot meal.
Due to the corona virus the Hope Center cannot allow guests to eat in the dining room. They are currently doing meals-to-go only. Our recent $500 donation will help them to purchase individually packaged foods and beverages as well as the to-go containers.
Despensa de la Paz is part of Friedens Community Ministries, Inc., a network of food pantries Milwaukee. Food Pantries have been especially busy during this coronavirus emergency. The Despensa pantry on Milwaukee’s South Side continues to be open during their normal hours Saturdays from 10:00 to 12:00.
In order to protect shoppers, volunteers and staff, they are operating with the following changes:
All clients are asked to wait outside for their groceries. Social distance guidelines apply. Clients are greeted by a staff member or volunteer at the entrance. Bags of groceries including dairy, meats, dry goods, and produce will be brought directly to clients. Our recent $500 donation will help them to purchase additional food.
Watch for more updates each week…
