The “Stonehouse Concert” held last Sunday afternoon turned out to be a successful and fun event. About 50 people in attendance enjoyed two, uninterrupted hours of great, toe-tapping music from the talents of ‘The Acoustix’ duo. They playfully engaged the group with sing-along favorites from the fifties to the present. We even had neighbors stop by to enjoy the music. We raffled off a ‘Covid Coping’ basket, filled with everything you might need to help you get through this strange time. John Whitcomb was the lucky winner, stating, “I have never won anything like this!” Congratulations John, and we hope you share it with Holly! We were able to raise $506 for the Cathedral Center in Milwaukee to purchase meals for the women and their families. We were scheduled to serve them on September 20, so these monies will fill that need.
These events never get off the ground without the help of many folks. A special shout out to Rev. Laura for making 4 masks, Dave DiBraccio for providing hand sanitizer, bottled water, and balloons, Polly Hansen and Annie for marking the safe distance circles, Becca Hughes for providing the tent, Lynn Sileno for adding chocolate to the basket, and Jenni Sobczak for overseeing check in and monitoring the bathroom for cleanliness. Good job!
A few lasting comments shared or overheard. “This was so wonderful, can we do this every year?” “The musicians were outstanding and not too loud!”
And my favorite by young neighbor girls who stopped by the tent with their mom and asked what was going on and if they could come. When asked if their mom was coming back to listen with them, they replied, no, our mom said, “We are safe here with you!” Yes, you are little ones, yes you are!
