Sermon this Sunday: Song of Joy and Justice

This Sunday is the Third Sunday of Advent and we light the Candle of Joy.  All children and youth are invited to stay for the lighting of the Advent candle and A Time for the Child in All of Us and then to leave to participate in Children’s Church.  Young children (ages 0-3) may visit our Nursery or remain with their parents.

Making a Difference!

Serving the Homeless on Christmas Morning. Interested in helping to serve a meal to the homeless on Christmas morning in downtown Milwaukee, 8th & Michigan, as part of the Streetlife Ministries? We are organizing a carpool to leave from church at 9:30 a.m.  Ask Jan Gradisnik or Cathy Benjamin for details.  Sign up on the bulletin board in the Narthex or give the church office a call (262-786-4155).

Worship with your BCC family. Our 5pm Family Christmas Service will feature an intergenerational portrayal of the Christmas story. In the 10pm Candlelight Worship we will share the story in scripture and song.  Both services will include the sharing of the Christ light.  All are welcome. And remember Christmas Day is a Sunday this year.  A simple celebration will be held at 10am that day.

The Mitten Tree is back! Please consider donating hats, mittens, gloves, and scarves for all ages in need. The "Hearts to Hands" group has been knitting and crocheting hats and mittens the last few months. Of course, these items can be purchased, too. Let's go all out this year and fill our tree more than ever before!

Join in the Festival of Mission this Sunday through December 18th by making a donation to support Lad Lake, Safe Babies, Addiction Resource Council and Bread of Healing Clinic. Following worship purchase donation gifts in honor of someone special on your gift list.

Christmas Story Participants of Every Age Needed! The 5:00 p.m. Christmas Eve service will include an intergenerational portrayal of the traditional Christmas story.  The roles will be distributed on Sunday, December 18th immediately following worship service.  The roles will be given out as a “brown bag surprise”.  Rehearsal is 4:00 p.m. on Christmas Eve just before the service.  Anyone can participate, not just the kids, by selecting a sealed bag with costume inside.  All the traditional parts including Mary, Joseph, shepherds, kings and angels are “in the bag”.  Ask Jackie Oakes or Cathy Benjamin if you have questions or would like us to save you a “brown bag” role.

Chair Yoga Tuesdays continue! We are excited to welcome a new Chair Yoga Instructor this coming Tuesday. Sherry Hammer Knutson, a registered Yoga Instructor, will lead us in our Chair Yoga Poses every Tuesday at 11:30am. Sherry will be accepting a goodwill offering at the end of the class.
Caregivers’ Coffee and Conversation meets every third Monday at 10:00am in the Library.  Next meeting:  Monday, December 12th.

Don’t forget: The offering on Christmas Eve will go to The Christmas Fund of the United Church of Christ.  This fund provides assistance to Veterans of the Cross, those who have faithfully served in the United Church of Christ and now find themselves facing unexpected financial needs.  Please consider a gift to this tangible expression of God’s love.
