A ‘Live It Out’ Forum
Please join us in the Library for another learning experience on Sunday, January 21st at 11:15am following worship. The “Live It Out” Forums, co-sponsored by the Stewardship, Mission and Christian Ed Ministry Teams, will educate anyone interested about the work of a featured service organization in our community.
On January 21st, our guest speaker from Blessings in a Backpack will share the work the Waukesha County chapter of this national organization. Our guest, Regina Estrada, will share the mission and work of this dedicated group of volunteers who address the weekend hunger gap beginning at 3:00 Friday afternoon and ending at 8:00 Monday morning, a time that many children of struggling families go hungry.
In 2012, Blessings in a Backpack started bridging the gap by serving 25 students at Hadfield Elementary School in Waukesha. Today, Blessings in a Backpack has grown to serve approximately 900 children at four Waukesha County elementary schools. They help impoverished elementary school children every Friday by filling their backpacks with food for the weekend. They feel fortunate to have grown, but are not ready to rest when 4,600 children in Waukesha County are hungry over the weekends.
Hope to see you there! Broaden your knowledge of local mission organizations and perhaps discover a way you might “Live It Out”. Questions may be directed to Cathy Benjamin, 262-439-9029.
