As I contemplated what study or resource to offer this fall, it occurred to me that so much of what we do in the church is intellectual.  We are great at book studies and Bible studies.  We don’t hesitate to dive into difficult and challenging topics.  Even the “Agile Church” book study this summer was well attended.  But when I thought about what spiritual practice has helped me the most in last few years it has been Meditation.

I know that the very mention of the word has some of you imagining lots of still quiet and sitting around.  That’s what I thought too.  And to be honest it has taken me a long time to get into it.  Yet with all the noise and busyness around me I have found it so valuable to take time for some quiet.

So, I invite you to join me in the practice of Meditation and Mindfulness.  I say “practice” because I too am practicing.  This is something we do together.  We will try different techniques.  Don’t worry, in the beginning it will be led or guided meditation.  I believe that this is critical to listening for what God wants of us personally and as a faith family.

We will meet each Wednesday evening at 7pm.  We will begin promptly and engage in meditation for a half an hour.  Following that there will be a 15 minute opportunity to debrief if you choose to.  We will meet in the Library to start, but may change space depending on the number of participants.  Each week will be unique so come when you can.  I do ask that you arrive on time so that the group is not interrupted when the meditation begins.    We will begin on Wednesday, September 12 at 7pm.

Come and join me in this spiritual practice!
